I would like to see the echo gain the ability to control my Directv Receiver via IP commands. I think it would be great to say: "alexa directv mute" "alexa directv play" alexa tune directv to channel ..." etc
currently Directv receivers have the ability to be controlled by IP commands.
This is done by using directv's SHEF protocol that appear to be url commands pointed at the receivers ip address within the local lan.
url command structure for directv: http://www.openremote.org/display/knowledge/Controlling+DirecTV+DVR+via+ethernet http://whitlockjc.github.io/directv-remote-api/
documentation from directv on the SHEF https://www.satinstalltraining.com/homeautomation/DTV-MD-0359-DIRECTV_SHEF_Command_Set-V1.3.C.pdf
I am not sure how/if the cloud base service could issue these commands on a local lan, but then again, I don't know much about this stuff at all. What do you think? Is this possible?
