Tax identity interview for non US resident and non tax payer
Ok, I have already emailed the support for some questions, which included also a part on the tax identity interview thing but at the time I am writing this here, I have not yet got any reply and also did not go in details on the matter, so I am posting here. Anyway, I created an Android app as a hobby and I want to publish on Amazon app store. When I created the developer account, there was a part which is based on something like Tax Identity Interview. I did not complete the registration process once I saw it as I did not want to accept on something which I do not know about. This is why I am posting here. I will be in brief and pay attention to the following details below before I ask my questions: -I am NOT from USA. -I do NOT pay any form of direct taxes in my life. -My application which I want to publish on Amazon app store is completely FREE and also WITHOUT ads as well as WITHOUT any source of revenue. So, based on the details I provided, must I still fill the Tax Identity Interview thing? If yes, how I will fill something when I do not pay any form of direct taxes in my life and also a non-resident of USA? Thank you.
Hi Vivek, Our Developer Portal team believes they have identified and resolved the issue that was blocking the submission of your Tax Identity Interview. You should now be able to submit your Tax Identity Interview, but please use the "Contact Us" form to let us know if you have any further issues.
Hi, I am publishing free application. When I try to submit the application I am getting the following message "To submit a revenue generating app, please complete the tax interview by clicking here. Once you have completed the tax interview, your tax status will be updated and you will be able to submit your app." Please help me to get rid of these Regards, Vivek
I think you have missed my point. I said "You must provide your taxpayer identification information to become eligible to publish your paid apps (not the free ones), apps that contain in-app products, or apps which otherwise generate royalties or other payments to you by Amazon. "
It means you do not have to provide your Tax identity since you are publishing free apps only. Please keep in mind that in future if you decide to change your stance in any way mentioned above, that time you have to provide required tax information. Hope I am clear now. Thanks.
Hi, I just got a reply from the Amazon support mail that I do not need to provide the information on the tax identity information for free apps. I mentioned, I don't pay any tax, I am not from US and my app is completely free without any ad. Now you are saying I should provide information but the reply I got from the email support said the contrary. Which is which?
You must provide your taxpayer identification information to become eligible to publish your paid apps, apps that contain in-app products, or apps which otherwise generate royalties or other payments to you by Amazon.
