Dear forum members,
I am currently working with the Python example to build a Smart Home Skill: https://developer.amazon.com/blogs/post/Tx34M7F8Z8U7U8B/creating-your-first-alexa-smart-home-skill
There is one thing I absolutely don't understand: If there is an 'DiscoverAppliancesRequest', the payload will be filled with discovered appliances. But in this example, they are hard-coded! Why? I expected some kind of request to the device cloud, returning the available devices. What is the point of hard-coding them? What am I missing? And if possible, how is the request to the device cloud actually made?
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I am a beginner.
