Is there a way to send direct network commands to Fire TV ADB without having the ADB installed on the sending computer?? TIA
What is your use case; can you describe it in detail? If you just want a remote control of Fire TV from your mobile device, then see: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201640980
Also please note that this is a forum for Amazon Appstore developers. For assistance with the Amazon Fire TV / Stick as an end user, please contact Amazon Customer Service for support (http://www.amazon.com/customerservice) or post in the Fire forums (http://www.amazon.com/forum/fire/). Thanks!
in fact, this post by Ian Duncan does exactly that. it works quite well but not 100% perfectly as the Select command does not seem to work on Hulu (but does on other menus of FireTV). Does Amazon have any documentation for these serial strings? trying to reverse engineer the hex codes/checksums isn't fun.
here's a google sheet with the summary of the commands and the hex codes sent via the module
Thank you for additional details. Regrettably, we don't currently have a solution for your use case. However, we are always interested to hear from our developers about the kinds of apps they are building and what features they might require. Could you please describe what kinds of events would it need to provide in order to be useful? Also, what kinds of 2-way communication (requests/responses) would you need? And do you have https support on the client side? Any additional details would be useful. Thanks!
Levon, Thanks for your reply. I am trying to control the Fire TV from a Crestron home automation controller which cannot have ADB installed on it so I would like to send network commands to control it. i can write C# to send http requests and receive requests like cover art. There are no Fire TV modules for the Crestron Home automation system that i can find. I can always do IR but would rather have 2 way communication for a better user experience. Thanks
Thank you for posting on the forums! At the moment, direct network commands to Fire TV is not something we support.
Could you please share more details on what you are trying to do? We would like to review and consider your use case in our future roadmap. Thanks!
