I have invested heavily within the Amazon Ecosystem. I have multiple Amazon Fire tablets, Fire Sticks, Echo's, and Echo Show's. I am an Amazon Prime and Amazon Music Unlimited subscriber. I spend thousands of dollars each year at the Amazon store. I have many DIY/Amateur home automation projects that require Philips Hue Emulation to communicate with the AWS backend via my Echo devices and the Alexa App. This functionality has allowed me to automate many eco friendly devices around my house to help me save water and electricity (as well as the earth).
Apparently Amazon is killing off the API that allows me to implement these projects... Why??
The API uses a unique HEX identifier for each device and Amazon has decided to truncate this identifier so that DIY emulation devices won't work.
Shame on Amazon! If this is the direction the company is deciding to go I will cancel all my accounts, get rid of all Amazon devices and move over to the Google platform where they seem to embrace DIY and amateur developers, and I will never look back!!!!
