Why has Amazon decided to consolidate the tabs on the Amazon Fire HD operating system homepage? Customers were used to having separate categories such as Books, Newsstand, Apps&Games, etc. (More that I can think of.. Maybe 6)
Each one of these things was its own category and made things very simple for users to use their device as they wanted. Now, with this latest update, they has consulted everything into:
For You - Home - Library
After some investigation, internally Amazon calls it: "Library Series Grouping".
Well, all it takes is a search of consumer forums to see that people are for lack of a better term, pissed off. I personally purchased an Amazon Fire HD 8 on Black Friday and was happy to enjoy the experience, last night, I plugged my tablet in the charge, and when I got up today, there was a huge update ( by the way, you can't disable updates as forced updates are default) which took away about five separate sections of the UI experience.
Now it looks like a stripped-down entry level stock Android tablet instead of the colorful and multifaceted Android fire experience.
After the update, my homescreen had a pop-up that said: " we simplified things for you" .. when in fact they took features away.
Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about this. There does not seem to be any previous APK files online and even if you were to do a factory reset, it would be back to the way you wanted it for maybe an hour and till the new OTA update arrived, and it would be back to this new format.
Amazon says that all you can do is provide them feedback. So I have done so five times lol. Very disappointing. Just a heads up for yourself personally and for your customers.
