Hello. I have been the target of a rather original, yet simple attack on the alexa wake word system. It seems my neighbor has created a sound track that sits there and says 'Alexa, buy such and such on amazon' then 'echo, buy some other thing', then 'computer cancel all alarms', and then 'amazon buy some third thing' and by playing this track outside, they are able to interface with the alexa assistant without even being in the same room.
This requires me to mute the device every time i step out of the room, making it an extremely inconvenient device to have and a huge security risk as they can use it to cause all sorts of mischief, and even render the alexa device unable to work by simple sending command after command from their window.
I live near an apartment building, so I don't even really know who is doing it, but it would sure be nice if I could switch the wake word to something besides those four things to prevent this sort of abuse.
I know you guys over at amazon want to drill the word 'amazon' into everyone's brains, but that tactic is actually having the opposite effect, making me want to unplug alexa permenantly because of the vulnerability.
I feel like these types of attacks will become more and more frequent as they become more widely known about, and people will utilize this to mass-purchase items online etc (possibly from the TV or other source)
When can we expect to see a fix for this vulnerability released? Its especially annoying if nothing else having all my alarms cancelled everytime I go to sleep.
