Hi, I'm trying to add GameCircle functionalities to an existing game on an Android device (not a Kindle). It looks fine at initialization, but i'm not logged in to GameCircle (a popup says i'm a guest), and trying to send a score results in an UNRECOVERABLE error. When i try to log in through the popup, it opens the browser, i can enter my mail and password as if i were connecting to Amazon, but i end up with a "page not found" error. The URL is weird, it starts with something like "amzn://com.mycompany.appname". I don't know what this "amzn" protocol is about, and i can't find anything about this. So i'm stuck here. Yet, when i go to the Amazon app-shop *, i'm logged in. I also noticed that i can't edit my nickname (well, is it really my nickname ? I see it when i press the option button (with 3 horizontal bars), parameters, my account => it's set to my name by default), nor can i add it to the sandbox for testing purposes. I suppose i can edit, or at least create it once the problem above is fixed, but it's strange anyway that i can't do it outside of a game. Is there any way to log in elsewhere, or to explain this "amzn" thing ? * Is this app necessary when testing anyway ?
I have resolved this issue. I believe it was caused by my Android phone browser being in 'incognito' mode. That is, private browsing mode. Anyone else having this issue should make sure this is off before trying to connect to GameCircle. Thanks, Colin
Thanks, but this isn't about Leaderboards it's about being able to log in to GameCircle. Like the OP I am only able to connect as a guest. Clicking on the Sign In link when it appears at the bottom brings up the Amazon Gamecircle Sign In screen. Clicking 'Sign into Amazon' on this screen brings up another screen with the App name on it and message saying Click 'Continue' to sign in. It has 2 buttons 'No, thanks' and 'Continue' . Clicking continue brings up the 'Web page not available' message and the long amzn URL with my package name in it. All I can do from here is go back to my app and I am still not logged into GameCircle. Thanks, Colin
Hi, I am getting this issue too on my Huawei Android device. I have changed the Manifest file entry to my Apps package as instructed, but I still get the Web page not available URL appearing. It works fine on my Kindle Fire. Thanks, Colin Message was edited by: Wobbles
You shouldn't need to do anything specifically with Login with Amazon. I've done some quick testing on a nexus device (I don't have a Nexus 4 right now though), and I haven't run into any Gamecircle issues like you described, but I will see if there's anything more I can find.
Did you get a solution to your problem ? We have the same issue of "Web Page Not Found" being reported only on our Nexus 4 device, running 4.3.x The integration instructions have been followed as per the docs.
Hi Doug, Unfortunately I've already done this, as per the Amazon documentation. I thought it might be something else... Do you know if we need to create an application profile for Login With Amazon in order for it to work? That's just about the only thing I haven't tried yet... otherwise I constantly get the strange URL starting with "amzn://com..." on my Nexus 4 test device when trying to login to GameCircle. Thanks for the quick reply.
Hello captainpenny , Fixing this particular issue is a matter of updating your AndroidManifest.xml file Please make sure that the YOUR_PACKAGE_NAME_HERE below replaced with the package name value for the
element of your AndroidManifest.xml I bolded the relevant line in the activity for emphasis.
I'm having the same problem as you. Namely, that trying to sign-in to Amazon on a non-Kindle Android device fails because of the strange "amzn://com.company.game" URL. What was the solution that worked for you, finally? It would be really useful if you could post it here!
