I've already built a home skill app controlling a fireplace, getting the furnace temp, etc... What I wanted to do next is to monitor the Washing Machine - Washer (1st endpoint) and Dryer (2nd endpoint)
I want to ask Alexa if the dryer or washer is running or not.
I want my echo devices to "notify" me (Events API?) when the dryer or washer is done.
I am thinking of Motion Sensor? or Contact sensor? any suggestion for the appropriate Home Skill interface? I am looking at List of Capability Interfaces and Supported Locales that supports en-CA locale
Also, anyone have any suggestion/ GitHub examples of a Home Skill that also does Notify? My initial thought is to create a lambda every Cloudwatch events (5 minutes) check for the AWS IoT device shadow and if it is (motion detected? or contact open?) then compares that from dynamo, if the status have changed (running state) from true to false and timestamp is less than X minutes ago then send a notify. I also want check if the notify is not acknowledged within X number of times (example: 15 minutes) then delete the notify and recreate the notify as persistent notify.
such as investment to build... but I just want to boost up my working knowledge and create something cool at home.
backend hardware are two (2) SW-420, Arduino that software serial to esp8266 which is an AWS IoT thing
