I am very new to Alexa development. I completed the cake walk tutorial skill and tested it in the Test tab in the Developer Console. I wanted to try it in one of my Alexa echo dot devices before giving the skill for distribution or certification. My developer email is the same as my amazon.com email and that is used for registering both my Alexa devices. However it seems like simply enabling the cake walk skill does not work, as there is a skill by that name already written by someone else, and that got enabled instead!
So I changed the invocation name of skill to "jake walk" instead of "cake walk" to see if perhaps its already enabled as a development skill in my device, and perhaps I can simply invoke it and test on my echo dot. No such luck. Note that the name of my skill is still "cake walk", only it's invocation name was changed as mentioned above.
Then I read somewhere in the forum that the skill's locale has to match the device's locale. My devices are in India, so I guess they are under English(IN). So I changed the skill's locale to English(IN) in the Build tab top left combo. It was earlier under the English(US) locale.
Now I cannot edit my skill anymore when I click it or click on edit in the skill's row on the console! If I go to the Build tab in the developer console, it shows me the options for starting a new skill instead of the cake walk skill's intents and slots. If I go to the Code tab, I can still see the code for cake walk.
So its all a bit confusing. Is it even possible to test my "cake walk" skill on my echo dot before distribution and certification?
Also, how do I now get back my "cake walk" skill? :D
