Hi - quick question - when you become a "Pro" tier account, will you be able to sell unlimited designs from your account? The "Pro" tier does not have a number (the tier below it is 500), but I want to know if it is capped at an unspecified number, for instance 2500 etc? From what I can understand once you sell 501 shirts you can add unlimited designs (not capped) - can you confirm? Reason I ask is I have tons of designs from other POD sites that I'd like to add to my one Amazon Merch account. Thanks in advance and thanks for a great alternative to other POD sites.
Switching to American Apparel is not likely to effect your shipping speed. Both garments are probably printed on the same equipment, but that's my guess, as I don't know how Amazon operates. My source is me: I used to actually physically run the printers that print shirts (the direct to garment DTG kind). Not sure about screen printing though, as I have never seen screen printing done.
I've noticed that the t-shirts "Usually ships within 5 to 7 days".
That probably explains why my t-shirts stopped selling.
About the shipping time: do you think that it makes a difference if the t-shirts are American Apparel or Anvil?
All my tees are Anvil.
I think no-one from Amazon is saying anything here is because this might be temporary until they get production sorted out and running smoothly. That's just my guess though - as you are correct that is doesn't make much business sense to put on an upper limit to pro sellers. Maybe it is being discussed by the higher-ups and they are still deciding on a number. Who knows!
My sales have dropped at least 50-75% and at the same time the cancelation rate has gone up 5x as soon as the message about limiting shirts went up. Also, I am still limited at 1000 shirts even though i have more sales than that.
My sales have not declined, although I only have about 10 designs currently, so it is very difficult to really provide some real data. I am selling at least 1-2 shirts per day no problem. I would think the shipping times (5-7 days) would stop some customers from placing orders which could be a causer for the decline in sales for some. I would like to see an official Amazon response as to what the Pro limit is or will be.
Well I have less sales than you have, yet have more products uploaded than you, so it can't be 1000? I have no idea what it is as I was capped at a different number (more than 1000).
My guess is they implemented this to stop too many products being uploaded while they sort out the shipping and printing issues, and will again remove the limits once that is sorted out. Just a guess. It doesn't make business sense to limit uploads as that means they are essentially losing money. I just hope it's soon so I can get the rest of my stuff up.
I am assuming the limits are different for everyone right now as it seems all over the place.
With regards to POD sites - I have about 5k designs made over the last 5-7 years that are mostly on Redbubble, Zazzle and Spreadshirt. Also have stuff on Skreened but would not recommend them as they changed policies which (in my opinion) rips the designers off.
