I've been evaluating Alexa Skills for my company and how we might utilize them going forward in our organization. I set up an Alexa developer account under my corporate email and published some skills i had creating under my personal account.
First problem: I cannot login to the developer forums here with my company account. I try to login in, enter my corp email account/password, it seems to login me in and redirect me to the forums, it then shows me the developer forums page but I'm not signed in. I click the sign in again, rinse and repeat, same outcome. (I'm using my personal amazon developer account to post this message). Horrendous.
Second Problem: Under my corporate Alexa developer account, I'm continually asked to sign in over and over again. Never an issue with my personal account unless there was a long duration of inactivity. I'm talking every couple of minutes or so it asks me to sign into my Alexa developer corporate account.
Third Problem: I submitted a question under my personal account on aug 1st (see problem number 1 above about why I couldn't post a message under my corp alexa account) about the fact that the skills were not working on my corporate account. I could NOT invoke the skills with the ask <skill> to <utterance> etc.. Everything worked great in the simulator. Perfectly! But from any device I had at home and linked to the Alexa for business account, I got the dreaded and very unhelpful, "Sorry, something went wrong". Really AWS? You can't provide a little more information about what went wrong? All of my lambda's cloudwatch logs for the alexa skills had nothing in them. It's as if the alexa skill wasn't getting invoked at all from a device. And yes, the alexa private skills showed up on my personal alexa account And yes, the language is the same for the skill as my devices. I had to open the skill, then issue the utterance. I got no response to my question or any help.
And then yesterday, the skills did not work at all. Sorry, something went wrong when invoking the skills with open. Nothing in the cloudwatch logs. Again, everything worked perfectly in the simulator for both the "live version" and the development version. I tried to republish, etc. I even went so far as to remove the private skill and just try beta testing my development version of the alexa skill as a beta test on my personal alexa account. Same message. "Sorry, something went wrong". That's just so helpful to a developer I must say. I think I'm going to put that in all of my corporate apps from here on out with no logging to speak of and just tell the users something went wrong.
Fourth Problem:. After getting no response to my forum posts, and no responses yesterday to my emails for contact support, I gave up. I figured I'd start over. I removed my live skills from the Alexa for business account (Oh yeah. Forgot to mention, I'm paying 6 bucks a month to try that out for my personal account). And I deleted my development skills. The screen says my Alexa skills were successfully deleted. Great! So i begin to start over with my skills and all of a sudden, the page (which says the skills were successfully deleted), show all the skills as if I never deleted them. Still in the "removed" state for my live skills, and all of my development skills were still there. Come on guys! If it wasn't deleted, why did you give me a success message. This is absolutely terrible. About an hour later, I went back to the alexa development skills page and they are gone. So I'm not sure if they are really deleted, or are you just messing with me at this point.
In conclusion, I cannot use this service nor can I recommend to my company that use Alexa for business. Disappointing to say the least as all of this worked pretty well under my personal account.
I'd also appreciate a refund on my aws account for alexa for business for the month of august. Paying for something that didn't work, with absolutely no support or help leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.
A very dissatisfied Alexa for Business Customer.
P.S. If you need the account info for my corporate proof of concept account, please email me a the email address associated with the cases I submitted:
