Hello, I have an Insignia and a new generation FireTV stick and I've found that both of them lack support for 802.11w, also known as "Protected Management Frames". This is a security issue as it allows for deauthentication attacks against the FireTV devices. This is both annoying (as it causes your device to disconnect and reconnect when being "attacked" and a security issue as it allows the authentication handshake to be captured on demand (since the device will reauthenticate after it has been deauthenticated)
Is 802.11w a planned feature for FireTV / FireTV Sticks?
I determined that the support was not there by setting my access point to mandatory PMF. My Apple iPhone was able to associate with the WiFi network, but both FireTV devices were disconnected and unable to reconnect. I use a Ubiquiti UAP HD Nano as my access point and 802.11w enforcement is a feature of their firmware. So I assume either the FireTV devices/firmware do not support 802.11w or they are not advertising/negotiating it properly
