How to get "Fire App Builder" to have Adaptive HLS play in Exoplayer
I am using the "Fire App Builder" to build an app for "Fire TV"
Our goal is to have the video streaming in the app to be adaptive to the network it is playing on.
I built out an app using "Fire App Builder" and everything is working fine if I use url's that are pointed to .mp4 files.
There is a note in on the "Fire App Builder" tutorials that you can only use .mp4 extensions:Note About Targeting Video URLs
Note that when you target the video URL in a feed, the video URL must include a file extension such as
.mp4. Fire App Builder can't handle a URL value without file extension.
I want to be able to use an m3u8 playlist so that the Exoplayer can choose which stream to use in the list.
Is there a way to make the "Fire App Builder" adaptive with streaming. I currently have live m3u8 playlists and Vod m3u8 playlists.
Do I need to switch to another player besides Exoplayer?
Are m3u8 files not compatible with Exoplayer or the "Fire App Builder"
I was able to use m3u8 files in the "Web App Starter Kit" for our live feeds no problem.
We are wanting to use the "Fire App Builder" for DRM, Advertising, and Pre-rolls, which is not supported by the "Web App Starter Kit"
Adaptive streaming doesn't seem to be supported by the "Fire App Builder" or I am not understanding how to implement it. Can someone help me out in determining if the "Fire App Builder" can work with m3u8 files?
