I am trying to write a skill using Echo Buttons and need to know when the player has not pressed a button.
In the GameEngine Interface Reference docs (https://developer.amazon.com/docs/custom-skills/game-engine-interface-reference.html) the valid actions within a patternRecognizer are listed as "up", "down" and "silence". The last of these is described as "There is no action on the buttons" which sounds like exactly what I need.
Unfortunately I've been unable to get an event that uses a recognizer with a silence pattern to be notified to code. With "up" and "down" there are physical events that would trigger the event, but with "silence" there is no explicit trigger, just something *not* happening.
So, when exactly do the silence actions fire? Or am I missing the point and these are actually for something else.
Thanks in advance for any insight anyone may have on this subject.
