I need to trigger a skill a couple of times a day every day. Is there a way to trigger this from a device or from a Lambda function?
@Jenn@amazon - just came across this old post, but here's another 2 cents - providing Push capability from a skill is really just another way of doing what is already available via Routines - if the user specifically wants pushed responses, they can do it today via all the ways routines support "When this happens...", and then Alexa speaks the prescribed text. It is really the same thing, and is already available today. The team just needs to expand capability to support skills. Thanks!
BTW, if anyone else wants to +1 this enhancement request, go here: https://alexa.uservoice.com/forums/906892-alexa-skills-developer-voice-and-vote/suggestions/32555959-enable-and-allow-true-push-capabilities
I want an Echo Show to wake up, invoke a custom skill that inquires a senior resident about their health, interacts with them via dialogs and then records the exchange in a database.
I have built the Alexa skill and the Lambda function with an RDS MySQL backend. Problem is how do I have Alexa start the conversation? The resident will not be able to ask Alexa to start this skill.
I am researching the potential use of Flash Briefing, Alexa for Business Conference, Video Skills, etc. I have not found a mechanism to trigger a skill on schedule.
Thanks for your help.
