Hi. Alexa has suddenly stopped hearing me! :( I am using the v1 AVS sample on a Raspberry Pi 2 running Raspian Jessie and all was well until a couple of days ago when Alexa starting saying 204 response and no sound input shows on the bar graph. I tried recording with arecord from device 1 and it records fine. I tried a number of things to set the default from various sites but nothing seems to help. I have now installed the new v2016 avs sample and it is exhibiting the same problem. I have tried a number of things to set the default mic in Raspian but cannot get it going again. My speaker is working fine. I am using a Logitech AK5370 USB mic. Does anyone know what I need to do to get Alexa to hear me again please? Thanks, Mark.
To answer my own question after many attempts this web page solved the problem:
http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/40831/how-do-i-configure-my-sound-for-jasper-on-raspbian-jessie Why it suddenly stopped working after a few weeks I still don't know but at least it is going again now :) I followed this part: To reorder my cards, I first create a file named /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. It can be named anything you want as long as it ends with .conf. I then added the following: # This sets the index value of the cards but doesn't reorder. options snd_usb_audio index=0 options snd_bcm2835 index=1 # Does the reordering. options snd slots=snd-usb-audio,snd-bcm2835 Then reboot and the USB microphone should work again with sound coming out to a speaker on the 2.5mm Pi output.
